OCTOBER 2022
CMNL was honored to host the Comedy Extravaganza Dinner on the 19th of October as a major fundraising event for the Shae Gibson Support Fund, a noble initiative that provides financial assistance to women who are battling cancer for their treatment.
Around 230 people gathered to attend the dinner and support the fund. The event featured four of Australia’s funniest people and powerhouses as the main entertainment of the night – Billy Stiles, Sarah Gaul, Jake Howie and Chris Ryan. They were led by the ever-funny Rebecca De Unamuno as MC for the evening.
All the guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course dinner along with beverages provided by the talented staff of Canterbury-Hurlstone Park.
Besides CMNL, there were many other companies that came together to make this event successful. The beverages that the guests sipped on were sponsored by Lion Beers, De Bortoli Wines and Coca Cola while the ingredients used in the meal were sponsored by Providor, Lahood & Son.
At the extravaganza, the light and goodness of people’s hearts shone brighter than ever as a whopping $82,700 was raised for Shae Gibson Support Fund. Proceeds from ticket sales, a raffle and the auction as well as donations form Clubs and companies working in the NSW Club industry went towards this fund.
Shae Gibson was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2016. She fought valiantly against the disease at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse for 3 years before passing away in 2019. She always wanted to live a life of meaning and impact others’ lives for the better.
Through her position in the Partnership Advisory Council at her treatment center, she observed that the main thing inhibiting women from getting treatment to overcome the disease was its exorbitantly high cost. To honor and continue Shae’s noble work, the Shae Gibson Women’s Cancer Support Fund was established as means to support women in fighting the arduous battle against cancer.
Inspired by the powerful mission and determined to help the community, CMNL donated towards the fund as well.
We want to encourage you to consider donating as well. Any amount – big or small – counts. Your good deed today could help a woman live a healthy and fulfilling life tomorrow!
