Melbourne Cup Day at CHP RSL!
Recapping a day of racing, games, prizes and great food!
On the 7th of November, CHP RSL members and guests gathered at the club for a day filled with Melbourne Cup festivities. From delicious food and refreshing cocktails to trivia, games, and exciting prizes; making it an event to remember!
The club came alive, and the atmosphere was buzzing as events in Hive and The Park got underway, whilst Café Brass and The Arena became the perfect venues for patrons to eat, drink, and access our TAB and sweepstake facilities.
Hive attendees enjoyed a 5-course luncheon featuring dishes such as blue eye cod, beef tartare, and Coffin Bay oysters. Harpist Emily Granger provided soothing sounds for a serene backdrop, while the energetic Jeeves Verma took the stage as MC for the day. The energy in the room amplified as guests had a chance to strut down the runway and show off their race-day attire in our “Fashions in the Field” contest before watching the big race as the luncheon came to a close.
Over at The Park, Darryl Brohman kept members entertained as they posed for photos in front of the bright yellow Melbourne Cup frame and playing games like “Spin the Wheel”, The Park attendees also had the chance to show off their race-day best and take part in the Fashions in the Field competition. In between races, we made sure to test everyone’s Melbourne Cup knowledge with a themed trivia quiz whilst they enjoyed plenty of food from the Crinan Street Kitchen menu.
Before we knew it, it was 3pm and it was time for the main race to commence, the atmosphere at CHP RSL became even more electric! As soon as the horses left the gate, excited cheers and jeers erupted as the jockeys raced their way on and off the leader board. After much anticipation, the climax of the day came as the horses dashed towards the finish line, with Irish horse “Without A Fight” taking first place.
A big thank you to our members and guests who joined us for an unforgettable Melbourne Cup Day.
Congratulations to those of you who picked a winning horse!
